Carl, I noticed on the cost estimator, a category shows up called "Contractor Markup." Is this the cost of a general contractor built into the cost of the house construction? If you were to move into the house, that would be the cost savings of doing it yourself? Thanks.
Hi D.F., yes, the markup category is the GC's profit, although not all of it. You can also eliminate some or the entire equipment category (I never had or have equipment costs) & most of the insurance category, as you'll only have the cost of builder's risk (fire) insurance.
The cost estimator (#5 on "Getting Started" http://byoh.com/gettingstarted.htm) is great for getting "ballpark" numbers but, as good as they are, that's all they are.
